Parent University was a free one-day conference for parents of Bloom and Bloom Trail High School students held in the Conference Center at Prairie State College.
Parents of high school students heard lectures from several education and parenting experts in a workshop environment. There were a multitude of topics, including Cyber-Bullying, Teen Suicide Prevention, Human Trafficking, DACA and Toxic Relationships with some sessions devoted exclusively to Spanish-speaking parents.
Outside the lecture hall and classrooms, south suburban librarians from Chicago Heights, Steger-South Chicago Heights and Glenwood-Lynwood public libraries had informational booths. Parents were also able to speak with representatives from several area nonprofit organizations.
