Meet Bloom Trail's New Principal

Bloom Trail’s new principal Glynis Keene will host a Community Meet & Greet at the Donald Croarkin Library at Bloom Trail on Thursday, August 30, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM, before College Night. Parents and community members are encouraged to attend the event and meet the new principal!

Glynis Keene steps into a familiar space as she takes on the role of principal at Bloom Trail High School in Chicago Heights.

With 13 years of classroom experience and a decade of work at the school administrative level, Keene has served youth in many ways throughout her career as an educator. She taught in Chicago and Cicero. She was a Division Chair at Crete-Monee and AP for Teaching and Learning at East Aurora.

And in between those experiences, she taught French and English at Bloom High School.

“I’m excited to be leading Bloom Trail,” Keene said. “Coming back to Bloom Township, that’s a big part of my excitement. Bloom has always been stuck in my heart. My experiences as a teacher in this district were some of my favorite years in education. I felt a connection and it never left me. Even to this day. I was at my son’s cross country and track meets secretly cheering on the Bloom kids.”

Keene has big plans for the future of Bloom Trail, especially in a year that will introduce the Pre-Advanced Placement courses for ninth grade students. The new principal is working to make the introduction of such programs both seamless and exciting for the students. She also seeks to increase student involvement in clubs and other extracurricular activities, further developing a sense of community and school spirit that encourages academic success and character building.

“I am thrilled to see Glynis Keene step into this role with such enthusiasm,” Superintendent Lenell Navarre said. “Her connection to the district and her desire to connect our school more deeply to the communities and families it serves truly honors the core values of our district.”
